St. Patrick’s Day
Who was St. Patrick’s ?
He’s a patron saint of Ireland, along with Saints Birgit and Columba.
What is the purpose of
St. Patrick’s Day? To celebrate the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron of
Ireland.
Why is St. Patrick’s Day
designated when it is? It’s designated on March 17 because St. Patrick died on
March 17, 461.
Why a certain color on
St. Patrick’s Day? Because green will
symbolize for Ireland and in Ireland there is plentiful rain and mist, so the
‘Emerald Isle’ really is green all year around.
